Description
A new Hydrangea with show-stopping color and curb appeal, ‘Tilt-a-Swirl’ will take you and your guests on a ride of changing colors throughout the long and continuous bloom season from summer through fall. The large and abundant clusters of florets emerge chartreuse in color then changing to pink and finally a deep rose red, and always with an apple green eye. With new flowers emerging throughout the season you’ll see all color variations at the same time on the same plant! The flowers are held atop strong and sturdy stems so are great for cutting and use in fresh or dried flower arrangements. The deep green quilted leaves with attractive toothed edges are an excellent backdrop to make the flowers pop. Exhibiting extraordinary captivating color over such a long bloom season, it’s no wonder Tilt-A-Swirl won the Gold Medal Award at the prestigious Plantarium Horticulture event in Holland!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in rounded mound to around 3 to 4 feet tall and equally as wide, the Tilt-A-Swirl Hydrangea is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces or as a solo or combined with other plants in container gardens. In larger spaces it is stunning in groupings or as a low hedge in landscape borders. Also an excellent colorful accent in home foundation plantings and near patios and other outdoor living spaces where the magnificent flowers can be enjoyed from up close. A fine addition to Hydrangea gardens, cut flower gardens, pink or red theme gardens, and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 3.5 feet apart for solid hedges; 6 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
The Tilt-A-Swirl Hydrangea is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil with average fertility and full sun to part shade in northern zones and part shade (morning and/or evening sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun) in southern zones. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day or all day lightly filtered sun for best flowering. As with so many other ornamental plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic.

I live in northeastern MA, but somehow I came across Wilson Brothers online website. I explored it for many months, practically lusting over the beautiful selection of plants, the excellent, detailed descriptions of each plant and how to care for it.
I have ordered plants online before, but never as large as the ones Wilson offered, and the quality of what I received from several other nurseries ranged from ‘not bad’ to TERRIBLE.
Wilson Bros Gardens plants are only offered in larger sizes (2-3 gallons) and having gardened for years on a limited budget, their prices were not the ‘bargains’ I usually searched for. But I could not resist the Hydrangea Tilt-a-Whirl, and so decided to take a chance and order it.
The plant arrived in EXCELLENT condition and was packed extremely well. As you can see from the photo I took of it on my deck, it is large, strong and healthy. I have not yet planted it, the weather has been ‘lousy’ and my job demanding, but I’m looking forward to planting it soon.
The next test will be to see how it survives a winter here in New England, but if I do a proper job of planting and caring for it, I don’t see how I won’t enjoy its beauty for years to come.————————————————-Thanks for the photo, kind words and wonderful review! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
