Description
Developed by the late, world-renowned azalea breeder Dr. Eugene Aromi, ‘Michaele Lux’ Azalea is a rare, spring blooming evergreen hybrid showing off LOADS of stunning, large blooms with heavily ruffled brilliant lavender-pink petals and a blotch of deep fuchsia freckles. In his development of this gorgeous cultivar, Dr. Aromi crossed the lavender color ‘Elsie Lee’ Azalea with the beautiful ‘Red Ribbons’ Azalea. At 4 to 5 feet tall and wide, ‘Micheale Lux’ is a beautiful specimen for smaller gardens spaces or in groupings or as a colorful natural hedge in landscape borders.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a rounded mound 4 to 5 feet tall and wide, the Michaele Lux Azalea is ideal for use as a specimen in smaller garden spaces and containers or in groupings or as a hedge in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to Azalea gardens, pink theme gardens, Asian gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 4 feet apart for solid hedges; 8 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Evergreen Azaleas are easy to grow when planted right and in the right spot. They prefer a moist but well-drained and acidic soil that is rich in organic matter and part sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun is ideal. Moderate drought tolerance when established.
