Description
This is the tree form topiary version of the Gold Mop Cypress, one of the most eye-catching plants in our gardens which displays stunning golden yellow foliage on shaggy, rounded to pyramidal canopy atop a single trunk. Whether in containers or in the ground, it is a perfect choice as a focal point specimen on the patio or landscape beds or to accentuate or frame an entryway. Rarely if ever needs trimming however can be trimmed lightly one or two times a year for shaping purposes or size control.
Landscape & Garden Uses
With an upright habit and rounded to rounded pyramidal form 5 to 6 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide, depending on pruning, the Gold Mop Cypress Topiary Tree is ideal for use in containers or the ground as an exceptionally colorful and soft-textured focal point specimen in sunny to partially shaded landscape beds or home foundation plantings. A fine addition to conifer gardens, yellow theme gardens, Asian theme gardens, formal gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: best as specimen or use two to frame an entryway
Growing Preferences
Gold Mop Cypress is exceptionally hardy and easy to grow in containers or the ground in a moist to lightly moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. Foliage color is more intense with more sun. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic. Avoid overwatering, providing only enough water to maintain a damp to moist soil. Established Gold Mop Cypress growing in the ground are exceptionally drought tolerant and would only need supplemental irrigation during prolonged periods of hot and dry weather. No pruning required though can be trimmed one or two times per year for shaping purposes or to control size.
