Description
A delight to the senses, Doone Valley is a low growing spreading Thyme featuring strongly lemon-scented dark green leaves that become tipped with yellow with the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall. A heavy bloomer, abundant clusters of purplish pink flowers enjoyed by butterflies rise just above the foliage mound in summer. Excellent as a border in garden beds or as a solo or combined with other plants in container gardens.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a low mound 2 to 4 inches tall and spreading to 18 inches or more over time, Doone Valley Thyme is ideal for use to fill the gaps between stepping stones or as a groundcover or underplanting for shrubs, roses, perennials and small trees such as Japanese maples. Very nice around and growing over boulders. Flowering bulbs will pop right through it in spring. Also serves nicely as a soil cover in container gardens. A fine addition to rock gardens, butterfly gardens, pollinator gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 18 inches apart for mass planting; 12 inches apart to fill gaps between stepping stones or pavers

Growing Preferences
Doone Valley Thyme is easy to grow. It grows best in a well-drained soil and full sun. A little shade is okay. Will tolerate rainy periods but constantly soggy or wet soil is a killer. So make sure to plant in a well-drained site.
