Description
An oldie-but-goodie evergreen Azalea that is one of our all-time favorites, ‘Buccaneer’ features LOADS of absolutely brilliant, large, funnel-shaped orange-red flowers in mid to late spring that can be seen from a mile away! Additional flushes of flowers often come again in late summer and fall. Established plants produce so many flowers they nearly cover the foliage. Butterflies and hummingbirds love the flowers and blooming branches serve very well for cutting to create stunning indoor floral arrangements. growing 4 to 5 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide, the mounded shrub is clothed in new dark, rich green leaves throughout the year.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to 4 to 5 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide over time, the Buccaneer Azalea is ideal for use as an accent specimen in smaller garden spaces and home foundation plantings, or in groupings or as a natural hedge in partially shaded landscape and woodland borders. A fine addition to Azalea and Rhododendron Gardens, red theme gardens, butterfly and hummingbird gardens and cottage gardens.
Spacing: 3-4′ for solid hedges; 8’+ for space between plants

The Amaghasa azalea arrived in very good, healthy condition. I like the way you secure the plant in the box so it doesn’t move during shipping. I buy a lot of plants online and yours is the best packaging I’ve seen yet. No dirt spilled out of the pot and no damaged branches. I inspected the plant closely and found lots of buds so am looking forward to seeing it bloom in spring. You have a very happy new customer. I will be back to buy more! Thanks, Frances ——————- WBG Reply: – Hi Frances – Thanks so much for your review and for the compliments. We got carried away by the Encore Azaleas and other new azalea varieties over the past decade but are now going back to growing some of the “oldies but goodies.” With its extra large true red blooms, Amaghasa has always been one of our favorites of the late-flowering Satsuki hybrids. Hope you enjoy yours for years to come! Let us know if there’s every anything else we can help you with. – Brent | Wilson Bros Gardens
