Description
‘Brilliant’ is a spectacular Southern Indica evergreen azalea that produces LOADS of large, ruffled, brilliant watermelon-red flowers in spring that nearly cover the attractive rich green foliage. Southern Indica Azaleas are recognized by many as the most heat and sun tolerant of all azaleas, performing well as far south as central Florida! For those that love large growing azaleas, Brilliant is the perfect choice; growing 6-8 feet tall and wide at maturity.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing to 6-8′ tall and wide at maturity, ‘Brilliant’ Azalea is ideal for use as a specimen in many garden spaces and containers 12 inches in diameter or more. Plant it in small groupings to mass plantings or as a border along paths and walkways in larger landscape and woodland borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to Asian-theme gardens, Azalea gardens, cottage gardens, and partially shaded woodland gardens.
Spacing: 4-5′ for solid hedges; 10′ or more for space between plants

Growing Preferences
Evergreen Azaleas are easy to grow when planted right and in the right spot. They prefer a moist but well-drained and acidic soil that is rich in organic matter and part sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sun is ideal. Moderate drought tolerance when established.
