Description
This is the single-trunk topiary tree form of the Berry Dazzle Dwarf Crape Myrtle. One of the most stunningly colorful summer-flowering shrubs in our gardens and truly a sight to behold, ‘Berry Dazzle’ is one of our favorites out of the Dazzle Dwarf Crape Myrtle Series developed by the Michael Dirr Breeding Program at the University of Georgia. The deep green foliage of Berry Dazzle becomes literally covered by large, intense fuchsia-purple flower clusters in summer. Another fine attribute is the handsome burgundy-red fall foliage.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 5 to 6 feet tall and wide as a small tree, the single-trunk Berry Dazzle Crape topiary is an ideal selection for an accent or specimen in smaller garden spaces or as a stand alone in containers, which can conveniently be brought indoors for overwintering by those of you who garden north of USDA Cold Hardiness Zone 6a. Also nice for using two to frame an entryway.
Suggested Spacing: 8′ for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Crape Myrtles are exceptionally easy to grow and maintain when planted right and in the right spot. They’re not too picky about soil type however prefer a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and as much sun as you can give them. Light shade is tolerated but flowering is diminished with more shade. Maintenance is minimal, with very little if any pruning required for plants to maintain density and a nice form. That said, spent flowers can be removed to encourage a possible second flush of flowers. A light pruning before leaves emerge in early spring can help to maintain a more dense shrub. When established, plants are quite drought tolerant; only requiring supplemental water during prolonged dry periods during summer. As with all other crape myrtle, deer won’t touch the Dazzles.

A Beauty! Packaged with professional care. My young tree arrived with a perfectly straight trunk and 3 to 5 inch branches. I can say that I was totally excited to see how healthy it was.
I immediately planted it with added rooting liquid for an easy transition. It has been less than 4 weeks from planting and the picture shows how lovely this is in my garden. As I am a master gardener, my tree will be viewed with all who visit my garden. I have never been disappointed with Wilson Brothers and only regret that I did not find them earlier in my planting career. Purchase with confidence, and know that their communication is always open and questions answered soon after you email.—————————————————-Thanks for the photo!
